University of Sunderland Glass and Ceramics Open Day

Postgraduate Open Day and Funded PhD Opportunity

Wednesday, 20 January 2016, 1-5pm, National Glass Centre, Liberty Way, Sunderland SR6 0GL

Glass and Ceramics at the University of Sunderland has a large post-graduate cohort (c40 students) studying MA Glass, MA Ceramics, PhD or MPhil.

As part of our 2016 Glass and Ceramic application process, we would like to invite prospective students to visit the department on 20 January.

If you are completing a BA or reassessing your current creative practice, post-graduate study at the University of Sunderland, one of the biggest and best equipped providers of glass and ceramics education, might be a key route for your future professional development. We are happy to consider applications from candidates with diverse professional and educational backgrounds.

PhD Funding!

We will also give details on the funded studentship provided through the Northumbria/Sunderland AHRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Art and Design. We will welcome applications in glass and ceramics, with a potential start date in October 2016. This open day will be a chance for potential applicants to discuss their research ideas with staff. Deadline 7 March!

This informal afternoon also aims to:

• Introduce the nature of the MA, PhD or MPhil degree

• Provide case studies of current students

• Explain the structure of the programmes

• Provide an overview of training and learning resources (department tour)

• Offer the chance for advisory interviews to discuss your future plans in relation to post-graduate study.
